Sharpie Decorated Easter Eggs

This year, I decided to pass on the messy, traditional dip-dyed Easter eggs. I saw these pretty, intricately designed eggs on Pinterest, and thought it would be fun to just let Audrey have at the eggs with colorful Sharpies herself and see what she came up with!

Turns out that we both had a lot of fun! Sharpies are "Mommy's markers" in our house. And my little artist was over the moon that Mommy was actually letting her use them!

She mostly scribbled on them, but did one with polka dots that was super cute. And I think she felt more creative and had more fun than just dipping them in a colored dye.

I know what you're thinking, "Are Sharpie's really less messy?" For us they were! She had a paper plate to put her egg down on if she wanted to, so the table was kept safe. We didn't have dye splashed all over the place and didn't have to wait for them to dry. We did get a little marker on our fingers, but some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball took it right off and we followed up with good old soap and water!

So whether you forgot to pick up the Easter egg kit or you just want to skip the dye this year, get out your Sharpies and get creative this Easter!

*UPDATE* I do not recommend eating these if you use Sharpies! It might have been our eggs, but I don't think so. Some of the color did seep through the shell and they have a nasty chemical smell to them after peeling! I think it would still be fun if you blew out the eggs instead of hard boiling them though.

Easter

We had a really wonderful Easter this year. Last year was very special because Audrey was baptized, but this year was SO MUCH FUN! My mom had to work the weekend (oh, the life of a nurse) so we had a little Easter egg hunt at Mimi & Pa's house on Friday. We didn't even explain to Audrey what to do. We gave her a basket, took her outside, and she pretty much got it right away! It was so much fun to watch her and she had a blast!

Sunday, we went to church in the morning. I bought Audrey the cutest little Easter dress at TJMaxx for only $11, but she wore my Easter jacket from when I was a little girl. I'm so glad my mom saved it because it was adorable on her and it was so special and meaningful to me to see her wear it.

After church, Audrey took a nap and while she was napping, the Easter Bunny came!

Then we went to my gram's house for an Easter egg hunt with the other great-grandkids, and dinner with the family! Again, it was so much fun to watch Audrey and the other kids, and to really experience this childhood tradition through her eyes.

It was a wonderful day and I was definitely grateful and counting my blessings!

Audrey is at such an exciting, fun age now and it makes me so excited for everything that lays ahead of us this year! I hope you all had as beautiful an Easter as we did!

Easter

We had a very special Easter Sunday this year - Audrey was baptized! It was a perfect, beautiful day and I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.

The cake I made for my sweet girl.
Homemade blueberry muffins & lemon cupcakes.

 Sour cream coffee cake.
 Adorable Easter basket cupcake wrappers.

Baby girl and Auntie getting ready to go to church.
 Being baptized!
"The water went right in my eyes and I didn't even cry!"

My sister and brother-in-law are Audrey's Godparents.
Audrey is the 3rd generation to wear this Christening gown!
My mother and her siblings wore it.
It was worn by my sister and I, along with our cousins.
It was worn my my cousin's daughter, and now Audrey!

My sister and brother-in-law bought her a beautiful gold bracelet and my parents bought her a cross necklace. She looked so precious!
Me and my perfect baby girl!

Easter Hike/Photo Adventure

Today, I'm laid up on the couch. I think I tweaked my back at work on Saturday when it was so busy. I got home Saturday night after being stuck inside all day, and we went for a walk so I could enjoy what was left of such a nice day. Yesterday morning, I thought I was just sore from running around so much the day before, so my hubby and I went on a two and a half hour hike. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun, but by the end I was hurting.

I spent the rest of the afternoon yesterday barely able to move and in a lot of pain. This morning I feel a little bit better, but I doubt I'll be moving very far from the couch today. So I figured since I'm laying here, I'd share some photos from our fun day yesterday! I took a lot of photos, so I may spread them out over a few days.

And we're off...

This tree is growing through a rock!

Squirrel with no place to go.

A burl.

Does anyone know what this marker in a tree means?
I just liked it because my initials are SP. :)

Old sign. I wonder what it used to say...

Looking for fish again.

I love this man!

My hubby knocking to see if David the Gnome is home.

Okay, I think that's getting long enough for today! I'll post some more photos from our awesome day tomorrow!
