Bye bye belly button bar

Don't you just love alliteration!

Anyway, change is a difficult thing for me. Even when I know a change is what I want, it still gives me anxiety. I'm a creature of habit and I like my routines. And like the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." But changes help us evolve and can often be for the better once I adjust to them.

Small changes are always easiest for me when other big changes are happening. So with the start of my new job just a few days away, I decided to make another small change. I took out my belly button piercing! Seems like a silly little change, hey?! lol But it's huge for me! I had my belly button pierced on my 18th birthday, almost 8 1/2 years ago, and I've always loved it. In fact, I still like how it looks, but I've been thinking about taking it out for a little while now and I thought now was as good a time as any!

Just having it out for a few hours now, Ive realized how much I played with it without knowing. And my stomach looks so strange to me!

With my belly button bar:
You can't really tell in this photo,
but the stone on the bottom is purple.

And without:
May look like a normal stomach to you, but to me it's so strange! We'll see if my hubby notices tonight without me telling him! ;)

Changing little things like that can make a big difference even when you think they wouldn't. My husband had a tongue ring for the longest time and one day he decided that he didn't want it anymore, took it out and has never looked back.
(might I just say how brave you are for posting your belly!! I wish mine was flat like that) :)

That really is a big change! I had to take mine out when I was pregnant and it was SO weird to actually see my belly button after all those years!

Screw the belly button bar... I want your abs!

Thanks for the flat belly/ab compliments! :) Crunches, leg lifts, crunches, body ball crunches and many, many more crunches! It's the one part of my body I work pretty hard at.

Oh, I know the feeling. I felt the same way when I took mine out. I had to take the belly button piercing out due to pregnancy. I also had a monroe and 3 tongue rings (in a row). Had to take them all out for my current job. The facial piercings were the hardest for me to let go of. :( Now I'm a mom of 4. Guess I'll never get to get any of it redone. :)

I like it without! I think you {or your abs} look all adult like now! Now, did hubs notice?

Yeah, he noticed! I don't think he likes it too much. By the look on his face, you would have thought I cut off my arm or something. He'll get used to it!

I am with others on the board...hot damn...I want your abs too.

I took my belly ring out 4 years ago and to date, I can still spot the piercing hole and like you, my hubby's expression was like "why??". I wonder if he thought next up would be granny underwear and turtlenecks for sleeping wear, but sometimes little changes are all we need.

Looking forward to reading about the new job.

Good luck!

P.S. your writing is fabulous. I hope you can tolerate the grammatically challenged - like me!

I play a meme called SPIN CYCLE in which the meme host gives a topic and you "put your own spin on it." The topic for next friday is jealousy. After reading it I said to myself "what the heck am I going to write about?" I decided to stop by my favorite blogs while I tried to think of a topic.

I have a topic now. Your tummy. Your tummy is my spin on my jealousy topic!!! Damn woman!!!

I've always wanted a belly button ring. If I had your abs, I would definitely keep the bar. But that's me...
